Restaurant and Non-Profit Deliver Food to Veterans

This Veteran’s Day, volunteers in Wyoming are making sure those who served our country, are thanked with a good meal. Our William Langston tells us about a partnership between a restaurant, and a nonprofit delivering food to veterans.

The people from the Applebee’s restaurant chain were excited to team up with “Meals on Wheels” of Cheyenne to honor Veterans today:

“So Applebee’s has done free meals for vets for 15 years. We want to give back to all of the Veterans and active service members and our community. So by partnering with ‘Meals on Wheels,’ we wanted to offer Applebee’s free veterans meals, and they are delivering to the community at large.”

Not only is Applebee’s teaming up with ‘Meals on Wheels’ to deliver meals to veterans, but active-duty military members are doing the delivering today. Matthew Boyzo is a member of the security forces at Warren Air Force Base. He just wants to celebrate veterans by giving back.

“I love anything that celebrates Veterans. I’ve been doing ‘Meals on Wheels’ since I’ve been to Cheyenne. I enjoy just making them happy, making conversation. I really take these routes as a celebration.”

Giving thanks is one way to show appreciation on this Veteran’s Day, and so is food. This Applebee’s on Dell Range Boulevard is giving out free meals to dine in customers on this Veteran’s Day.

“I was in the air force. I joined after 911, and Warren here in Cheyenne was my first duty station. And when I got out of the air force, I loved it so much. I came back here.”

And Robin Midlam is so appreciative of the support from a community like Cheyenne.

“I’m just so grateful to Applebee’s and some of the other restaurants in town. It’s just great data to be happy, to be a veteran and to be in the organization of the military.”

Those in the Cheyenne area can head down to the Applebee’s on Dell Range Blvd until 11pm tonight for the Veteran’s Day deals.
