New Wyoming License Plate

Coming soon to a car near you, a new look for license plates in Wyoming. Our Kimberly Barroteran spoke with residents, who are weighing in on the new design.

The new look, inspired by the state’s flag, are already printed and will become mandatory for all drivers in three years. Debbie Laleman says the design stands out more.

“I think that’s nice. I think that is really nice. Yeah. I would much rather see that than the ones now.”

Heather Cranmer says she prefers the previous design but doesn’t mind the change.

“I like the more scenic kind of looking ones. You know, it’s kind of plain, but it’s cool. At the same time, the colors are nice.”

Shane Vincent and his daughter give it a thumbs up as it still has steamboat, the bucking horse and rider residents know and love.

“Cool, cool. You think it’s better than the other one? I like it. I like that steamboat is bigger and I can definitely see me rocking it wherever I go.”

The new design also encourages other drivers to visit the Cowboy State with printed on the plates, which is one of the main reasons Wyoming resident Vicki Ingram dislikes them.

“They should keep the old license plates. And I don’t like the Travel Wyoming. I don’t like them promoting Travel Wyoming. I like it just the way it is.”

Although the new plates will take some getting used to, the design will change again in another eight years.
