Indoor Playground Opens

An indoor playground to keep children active during the cold winter months has opened in Casper. Our Kimberly Barroteran takes a look inside the kids play village at the Beverly Plaza.

Kids Play Village is officially open for your kiddos to get out of the house and out of this cold weather and into the indoor playground. Owner of Kids Play Village, Sara Sullivan, came upon the idea after realizing there were limited options to take her kids while staying out of extreme weather in Casper.

“I knew this is something that our city needs. Like not only is it cold and windy for 2/3 of our year, but even in the afternoons in the summer, you can’t be at the park. It’s just it’s too hot. The kids are getting sunburned, you know, and they still have all this energy to wear out. So I wanted to have a fun place where kids can wear off all their energy.”

And while kids play village is for children up to five years old, it allows parents to interact with one another.

“Yeah being a parent can be isolating. And, you know, if you’re a younger parent, sometimes your friends don’t have kids yet and you’re like, I don’t know how to meet other people. I don’t feel comfortable. So this is definitely the place to like come out and find a community for you and your family.”

Parent Katie Ketelsen says it puts her at ease knowing her kids are having fun in a safe environment.

“To let them play and to trust that they’re in an environment that’s safe for them and made for them is so much fun. And I love to be able to hang out with other moms here and just chit chat and have that mom time while our kids enjoy all the different toys and all of the activities here.”

Sullivan says she’s excited to finally open her business.

“I love the community. I¬†love casper. I want it to stay family friendly and family oriented. And so I’m just happy we finally can do this here in our community to help everyone out.”
