Garage Sale To Benefit Local Firefighters

Supporting the first responders who keep the community safe, Our Kimberly barroteron tells us about a garage sale this upcoming weekend, to benefit local firefighters who are facing hardship.

Casper firefighters and the Casper fire EMS department are putting together another garage sale at fire station 3 this Saturday to benefit their benevolent fund. Casper fire-ems, pio Dane Andersen says the fund eases the financial burden for firefighters and their families who are facing hardship due to sickness or injury associated with their service.

“The last garage sale we had was several years ago when Captain Matt Trott was battling cancer before, during and subsequently after his treatment, those monies were forwarded to both him and his family. It was a tremendous success with uh with an amazing outpouring. I don’t have the exact numbers of what the dollar amount raised was, but it was well into five digits, as is where it was. So we hope that partnering with the association is going to yield that same result for those types of monies to be raised for the benevolent fund.”

They’re putting together the sale for another Casper firefighter who has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment.

“The fund has already been giving a monetary donation to our member and his family, but we also hope to just keep that fund solvent and replenish if, god forbid, we should have another injury or illness affecting another one of our members.”

Several items have already been donated for the garage sale that will be held this Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“It’s a big cause and an important cause and the gratitude that both Casper fire-ems and local 904 have for the community for turning up in this, for both coming to shop at the garage sale and in the donations. Couldn’t do it without our community. And that really does underscore how fortunate we are to serve this community here in Casper, one of the most giving communities in America. And it’s been proven time and again.”

Donations for the garage sale will be accepted here at fire station 3 all this week from 5 to 8 p.m. To help firefighters in our community who are also fighting for their lives.
