February 24 Hometown Hero

The Hometown Hero for February 24th is Deputy Daran Olaveson with the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.

He is this month’s Mothers Against Drunk Driving’s Wyoming DUI Enforcement Hero. Deputy Olaveson started his career at The Albany County Sheriff’s Office in 2015. After a few years working in the detention center, he transferred to a patrol position. Since this transition, he has dedicated his time to enforcing the impaired driving statutes in Albany County and becoming certified in Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement. He has repeatedly led the Office in DUI investigations, and in 2021 alone, he had 62 DUI arrests, the most in Albany County.

Deputy Olaveson has shown a steadfast commitment to this area of law enforcement and has repeatedly gone above and beyond to help protect the people of our community by keeping impaired drivers off the roads.
