Engaged On Energy

Welcome to this week’s Engaged on Energy! I’m Rick Whitbeck.

It has now been just over a year since Joe Biden took up residence at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. So much has happened in the past year that he and his team should be ashamed of.

There was the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, where he not only left Americans dead and in harm’s way, but also gifted the Taliban with over a trillion dollars of rare earth and critical minerals, that will ultimately be mined by the Chinese and used against America’s best interest.

There was the day-one cancellation of the Keystone XL pipeline, with over eleven thousand workers losing their jobs that to appease the eco left who would rather see oil and gas transported via rail and trucks, rather than by the safest method possible in a pipeline.

There was the immediate cease-and-desist executive order on ANWR development, and a so-called “pause” (still ongoing!) of oil and gas leasing on federal lands.

These – and other – actions have led the US to lose its energy independence, which we had achieved for the first time in decades at the end of 2020.

Reliance on countries to provide Americans with our oil and gas can directly be laid at the feet of this administration, as can the absurd reaction by the Biden team to ask OPEC-plus to increase its production and allow us to import it, rather than put Americans to work producing domestic oil.

Oh, and the per-gallon gas prices that were just over $2.50 at the end of 2020? They sit in the $3.80s in Anchorage today, with Wyoming’s average price sitting at $3.30.

When Vice President Harris says we are in a “malaise,” she’s right – and our loss of energy independence is a big reason why. The next time you hear Joe Biden say we are better off today than when he took office, remember those little tidbits as part of your self-check of the truthfulness of his claims.

That’ll do it for this week’s Engaged on Energy. Drop me an email at Rick@PowerTheFuture.com with comments or suggestions for a future segment. Thanks for watching, and have a fantastic, energy-filled week, everyone.
