Child Sex Change Bill Passes Out Of Committee
A bill that intends to penalize health care providers who perform gender transition procedures on children under 18 passes out of a senate committee. The bill would make it a felony punishable by ten years in prison for performing gender transition procedures in Wyoming. However, Campbell county state senator Eric Barlow says the bill’s language, which uses the term sex instead of gender may make it difficult to prosecute.
“Sex is a chromosomal issue. I don’t know that anybody’s doing chromosomal therapy. So I would argue that this may do nothing. We got a lot of this ambiguity is like we don’t know, we don’t know we don’t know. This is this bill will harm the child instead of helping them and I see it differently.”
Natrona County State Senator Charles Scott will argue for the bill on the floor of the senate.
